WHICH IS BETTER – CORKOLEUM OR FLOOR PANELS?
It depends on what you’re after. If you prefer a seamless look, Corkoleum is a strong choice. Fewer seams not only look cleaner but also help keep out dirt and moisture, making the floor easier to maintain.
If visible joints don’t bother you, panels may be a convenient option since they often install quickly with floating systems that require no glue.
HOW DOES CORKOLEUM STACK UP AGAINST OTHER FLOORING?
Cork rolls provide natural softness and spring, creating a cushioned feel underfoot. Unlike laminate, hardwood, or ceramic tile, which can be cold and rigid, Corkoleum feels warm and flexible.
Thanks to its insulating properties, Corkoleum helps keep room temperatures comfortable while reducing unwanted noise. Vinyl, for example, can’t compete on insulation.
Kork flooring is also sustainable and durable, ideal for eco-conscious households. In roll form, it’s fast and straightforward to install, making it practical for busy homes.
HOW DO YOU GLUE DOWN CORK FLOORING?
Before installation, let the rolls rest for about 72 hours in a dry, well-ventilated room, stored upright in the original packaging.
Gather your tools: utility knife, pencil, tape measure, straightedge, paint roller, tray, and bucket. A complete installation kit can be handy as well.
#1 Ensure the subfloor is level, dust-free, and clear of grease, paint, or residues that may weaken adhesion.
#2 Unroll the cork, give it a few minutes to flatten, and check for any damage under natural light.
#3 Apply adhesive evenly. Use dispersion or polyurethane adhesives depending on the subfloor. For overlap installation, spread adhesive about 2 inches narrower than the roll; once cut precisely, the seam becomes nearly invisible.
#4 Clean up any excess or debris as you go.
#5 After 24 hours, apply a protective topcoat following the finish manufacturer’s guidelines.
IS CORK FLOORING SAFE FOR KIDS AND PETS?
Absolutely. Cork flooring is gentle and forgiving, cushioning falls for children and providing comfort for pets. It’s naturally hypoallergenic, making it a healthier choice indoors.
DOES CORK MAKE FLOORS FEEL WARMER?
Yes! Corkoleum adds thermal insulation, helping floors feel cozy underfoot even on chilly days – no socks required.
IS CORK FLOORING SLIP-RESISTANT?
Yes. Its tiny air cells increase friction, while its flexibility spreads foot pressure more evenly – both of which help reduce slipping. Roll flooring can enhance this effect further.
DOES THE SUBFLOOR NEED SPECIAL PREP?
If the surface isn’t smooth and level, it needs to be corrected. Imperfections may show through later. Sanding or using leveling compounds can solve this.
Rule of thumb: the smoother, the better. Also, make sure the base is fully dry before applying adhesive.
IS CORKOLEUM COMPATIBLE WITH RADIANT HEATING?
Yes – with hydronic systems where heat changes are gradual. Corkoleum is not suitable for electric underfloor heating, since rapid temperature shifts may damage the material.
HOW DO YOU REMOVE CORKOLEUM?
#1 Tools: scraper, gloves, heat gun.
#2 Clear the room and wear protective gear.
#3 Warm the adhesive with a heat gun to make removal easier.
#4 Gently lift and peel the cork using the scraper.
#5 Wipe away adhesive residue with a remover and clean the floor surface.
WILL CORK FLOORING FADE IN SUNLIGHT?
Cork is fairly resistant to UV, though direct sunlight may gradually lighten the color. Compared to some wood or laminate, it holds its appearance longer.
To extend its look, consider using curtains or blinds to limit direct exposure.
CAN CORK BE USED IN KITCHENS OR BATHROOMS?
Cork flooring performs best indoors at 60–77 °F with relative humidity between 40–60%. Avoid direct standing water. In kitchens, it’s a great option thanks to its easy cleaning.
IS IT SUITABLE FOR HIGH-TRAFFIC AREAS?
Cork flooring is sturdy but not the top pick for heavy commercial traffic such as large offices or busy shops. For typical home use, though, it’s an excellent choice.
HOW DO YOU CLEAN CORK FLOORS?
Regular vacuuming and light mopping keep the surface looking fresh. Frequent cleaning helps avoid scratches from dirt buildup.
When needed, mop with warm water and a gentle cork-safe cleaner.
WILL CORKOLEUM DENT UNDER FURNITURE?
Cork is flexible and handles furniture weight well, but heavy, constant loads can leave marks. Using felt pads or protective coasters helps prevent this.
The toughest part of the morning? Cold floors under your feet. Corkoleum solves this issue, since cork naturally feels warm and cushioned. On top of that, there’s a wide variety of patterns, making it easy to choose one that blends seamlessly with your space.
When used as a cork roll flooring, this option combines resilience with visual appeal, giving homeowners and professionals alike the chance to enjoy comfort without compromising on style.

#1 QUIET, WARM, AND COMFORTABLE
Love walking barefoot at home but hate the icy shock of stone or the creaking of hardwood? Corkoleum keeps your cork floor pleasantly warm even on chilly days – a dream come true for barefoot living. It’s also exceptionally quiet, so every step is soft and nearly silent, creating a calm and cozy atmosphere indoors.
Because cork naturally absorbs sound, it cuts down on echoes and muffles noise effectively. Corkoleum also works great in energy-conscious homes, offering solid thermal insulation that helps reduce heating costs over time.
#2 EASY INSTALLATION
Corkoleum comes in roll form (each roll covers 7.7 m²), making it simple to cover large areas without dealing with excessive seams.
Its slim profile makes installation straightforward, even in tight spaces where height matters. The 0.5 mm polyurethane top layer protects against scratches, wear, and everyday damage, while making cleaning quick and hassle-free.
The blend of cork and recycled rubber provides excellent cushioning, so walking feels soft and safe. In households with kids running around or elderly family members, Corkoleum helps reduce the risk of slipping.
#3 STYLE, PERFORMANCE, AND LONGEVITY
That’s Corkoleum in a nutshell! With its built-in resistance to moisture and mold, it’s just as practical in kitchens and bathrooms as in living rooms.
If something heavy drops, Corkoleum proves far tougher than ceramic tiles, which can easily crack. Laminate flooring struggles with moisture, and hardwood requires constant upkeep – none of which is a concern with Corkoleum.
#4 NATURALLY SAFE
Health and safety always come first. Choosing Corkoleum means choosing a cleaner indoor environment thanks to cork’s natural hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties. It’s also antistatic, meaning it doesn’t attract dust or allergens.
Corkoleum is a health-friendly flooring choice – it emits no harmful VOCs. Its naturally springy surface absorbs impact, helping protect your back and making barefoot walking genuinely enjoyable.
With an extra treatment that improves water resistance, Corkoleum is easy to maintain, making it a smart solution for any room, from the living area to the bathroom.
#5 ECO-FRIENDLY FLOORING CHOICE
Did you know that the bark of cork oak trees – the source of cork – regenerates? Every 9 to 12 years, it can be harvested without harming the tree. During regrowth, the tree absorbs five times more CO₂ than other species. By choosing Corkoleum, you’re investing not only in your home but also in a healthier planet for future generations.
