WHAT SIZES DO THE 3D CORK PANELS COME IN?
Each set covers 1.98 sq. meters (about 21.3 sq. ft.) and includes 11 tiles. Every tile measures 300 × 600 mm (about 11.8 × 23.6 in.), which equals 0.18 sq. meters per tile.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE INSTALLING?
- Always store and carry the panels flat to avoid warping.
- Let them sit in the room where they’ll be installed for at least 72 hours to adjust to temperature and humidity.
This helps ensure they stay in shape and fit properly once installed.
HOW DO I INSTALL THE DECORATIVE CORK PANELS?
- Choose a high-quality adhesive – we recommend Wakol D-3540, which we trust and use ourselves.
- Plan for about 150–250 g/m². For example, 0.8 kg covers roughly 4 m² (about 22 Tatami tiles), while 2.5 kg covers around 12.5 m² (about 68 tiles).
- Use a short-nap roller to spread the adhesive evenly on both the tile backs and the wall.
- Wait until the glue turns clear before pressing the panels into place.
- Allow about 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure.
HOW SHOULD I PREP THE WALL?
- Clean well: Remove dust, grease, and debris to create the best bonding surface.
- Level it out: Fill in any holes or smooth out bumps before you begin.
- Prime if needed: For porous surfaces like bare concrete, apply a primer first.
CAN THEY GO ON UNEVEN WALLS?
Not recommended. Tatami 3D panels need a smooth, level, dry, and dust-free surface to properly adhere.
WILL THE SEAMS SHOW?
You may see slight seams, as cork naturally expands and contracts with humidity and temperature changes. This is normal and part of its character. Letting the panels acclimate for 72 hours before installation will help minimize larger gaps.
ARE THEY OK FOR OUTDOOR USE?
We wouldn’t advise it – moisture, temperature swings, and weather exposure can shorten their lifespan and alter their look.
CAN I CUT THE PANELS TO FIT?
Absolutely. A fine-tooth saw – especially a Japanese pull saw – makes clean cuts and helps prevent fraying edges.
HOW DO I CARE FOR THEM?
For day-to-day cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth or a soft dusting brush. For stubborn spots, go with a gentle, pH-neutral cleaner.
Important: Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, acetone, or chlorine-based cleaners – these can fade the cork or damage its surface, making it more vulnerable to moisture and mold.
