WHO SHOULD USE RENIA 3D EMBOSSING FILLER?

This compound is developed specifically for handcrafted 3D leather embossing. It reinforces the raised design from the back side, helping the leather maintain its sculpted shape over time.

This product is a great fit if you:

work with leather as a hobbyist or professional maker,
create dimensional or raised designs in leather,
produce sheaths, holsters, cases, pouches, or artistic leather goods,
form and mold leather and want it to hold its shape long term.

By filling the recessed areas from the flesh side, the compound prevents the design from collapsing or flattening over time.

If you’re only doing flat stamping or working with thin, non-molded leather, you likely won’t need this filler.

WHAT IS THE CORK FILLER MADE OF?

The formula combines natural cork, leather fiber dust, and a built-in binder. It’s engineered specifically for molded and 3D-tooled leather applications. The product contains no toluene or MEK, making it safer to handle in the workshop.

HOW DO YOU USE THE FILLER FOR 3D LEATHER EMBOSSING?

Apply the compound to the flesh side of the leather. Follow these basic steps:

Stir thoroughly before use to ensure a smooth, even texture.
Spread the filler with a spatula or palette knife, pressing it firmly into the recessed areas beneath the raised design. Avoid trapping air pockets.
Level the surface and remove any excess material.

Before first use, review the instructions and safety information provided on the label.

For best adhesion, coat the back side of the leather with Renia Gummilösung / Rubber Cement and allow it to dry before applying the filler. The manufacturer recommends this step to create a secure, lasting bond between the leather and the filling material.

DO I NEED ADDITIONAL GLUE?

No. The filler already contains an integrated binding agent that holds the cork and leather fibers together.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DRY?

Under normal shop conditions, layers up to about 3/8 inch (approx. 1 cm) dry in roughly 1–2 hours. Thicker applications should be left to cure overnight. Gentle heat can help speed up the drying process.

HOW SHOULD IT BE STORED?

Do not allow the product to freeze, as this will affect its performance. After each use, seal the container tightly to prevent air exposure.

Store at approximately 68°F (20°C) in a dry, stable environment without temperature fluctuations. When stored properly and sealed correctly, the shelf life is at least 12 months.
