WHY CHOOSE HOLZPROF AS A FIRE RETARDANT FOR WOOD?

HolzProf penetrates the wood structure and slows down while also limiting ignition when exposed to fire. This reduced combustion rate helps delay flame development, providing valuable time for response and evacuation.

WHICH SURFACES CAN BE TREATED WITH HOLZPROF?

The product is suitable for wood and other cellulose-based materials. Its water-based formula preserves the natural look and feel of the treated surface.

Please note: HolzProf works only on absorbent substrates. Painted, sealed, or varnished surfaces prevent absorption and reduce effectiveness.

WHAT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE OBSERVED?

Always wear protective gloves and safety eyewear during application. Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area. When applying by spray, a respirator with a P3 filter is recommended. Follow all manufacturer instructions carefully.

HOW SHOULD THE SURFACE BE PREPARED?

The surface must be dry, clean, degreased, and free from dust, stains, dirt, or adhesive residues.

Important: Wood must not be painted, sealed, or coated with any finish that blocks absorption. Proper preparation is essential for effective protection.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED APPLICATION METHOD?

HolzProf may be applied using a brush, roller, by immersion, or—where available—through a vacuum-pressure process. All wood surfaces must be fully treated.
The ideal moisture content of the wood is approximately 16%, with a maximum of 18%. Do not apply to frozen or ice-covered material.
Application should be carried out in three coats, allowing 40–60 minutes between layers. Minimum total coverage is 300 g/m² (270 ml/m²). For denser species such as Canadian WRC cedar, at least 360 ml/m² is required. Penetration depth should reach 1.5–3 mm. Recommended application temperature: +10–30°C (minimum +5°C), with relative humidity below 75%.
Full fire-retardant performance is achieved after 7 days under optimal conditions (around 68°F / 20°C and humidity below 75%). During drying, protect the wood from direct sunlight and moisture.

HOW SHOULD HOLZPROF BE STORED?

Store the product in its original, tightly sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Recommended storage temperature ranges from +5°C to +25°C. Protect from freezing.

HolzProf remains usable for up to 24 months from the production date.
