(excl. VAT)Not sure which glue works best with cork? Many people reach for a so-called “all-purpose” adhesive, but that’s usually not the smartest move. Sometimes it holds, sometimes it doesn’t – costing you time, money, and frustration. After testing dozens of products for over a decade – often on our own DIY projects – we found a clear winner: the most effective cork adhesive is Wakol D-3540. A contact adhesive designed to deliver consistent, professional results whenever you’re working with cork.

Wakol D-3540 is a water-based contact adhesive. Built on a latex-acrylic dispersion, it’s completely solvent-free – making it safer, cleaner, and easier to apply.
It’s purpose-made for bonding all types of cork materials – from floors (natural, veneered, waxed, or prefinished) to decorative wall elements, as well as insulation and technical panels.
Note: Wakol D-3540 is strictly for indoor projects.
Regular glues work by coating one surface and pressing the material into place. Contact adhesives are different: you need to coat both sides – the cork and the base – and wait until the glue becomes clear before firmly pressing them together.
Drying time depends on the substrate:
The open time is usually:
These times are based on typical indoor environments (68°F, 65% humidity). In other climates, drying times may vary.
Plan for about 24 hours for a complete cure, ensuring the area can be used or finished without issues.
For best results, use a short-nap velour roller. It spreads the adhesive evenly in a thin coat, ensuring a long-lasting bond.
Expect to use about 150–250 g/m² when working with cork. That means a 2.5 kg container covers roughly 135 sq. ft.
Apply Wakol D-3540 only when the substrate is above 59°F and the room temperature is at least 64°F. Standard indoor temperatures are ideal for curing.
If stored in a cold location, let the container warm up before use.
Reminder: natural cork should not be sealed or varnished until 24 hours after installation.
Yes, Wakol D-3540 is perfectly suited for ceiling applications. It creates a strong hold, making it ideal for decorative and insulating cork ceiling finishes.
Just ensure the surface is well-prepared and press panels firmly after drying time.
Yes, Wakol D-3540 works great with heated floor systems.
While wet, residue can be wiped away with water. Once dry, it’s very hard to remove, so clean up immediately.
Always keep it in the original container, tightly sealed, in a cool, dry location. Freezing will ruin the adhesive permanently.
Stored properly, it maintains full quality for 12 months after production.
Yes, there is a noticeable odor, but since it’s solvent-free and low in emissions, it’s much milder than traditional solvent-based glues.
After curing, the adhesive remains clear.
Worried your cork installation won’t hold up and might start peeling within just a few days? Nothing slows down a project more than panels falling off and the hassle of reattaching them. With Wakol D-3540, you can put those concerns to rest – it’s a trusted contact adhesive that locks cork securely in place. Contractors and DIY pros across the country rely on it because it delivers strength and long-term performance every time.

From the first roll-on to firmly pressing the cork down, Wakol D-3540 gives you the confidence that everything stays in place. It forms a consistent, durable bond that prevents shifting, even with larger boards. That means fewer do-overs and more time saved on the job.
What really matters: this adhesive is engineered specifically for cork. It doesn’t harden the material or cause warping – instead, it works naturally with its unique texture. Floors and walls end up looking smooth, professional, and finished from the start.
That proven reliability – strong grip, a clean finish, and lasting durability – is why Wakol is the go-to recommendation for stress-free remodels.
Wakol is a solvent-free adhesive, making it safe to use indoors every day. It’s been thoroughly tested for emissions and meets the toughest European standards – earning both the EMICODE EC1 PLUS label and a French VOC certification.
In plain terms, that means extremely low VOC emissions. Those certifications prove the product is not only safe for your health but also environmentally responsible.
Cork comes in many forms – from natural tiles to veneered, waxed, or pre-finished panels, and even decorative wall coverings. Wakol D-3540 was designed to handle them all. That makes it equally dependable for major renovations and smaller home projects, always delivering a solid, attractive finish.
Its biggest advantage is versatility – one adhesive that works for all types of cork. It’s a practical solution that saves you from buying multiple products. With Wakol, you know the results will be consistent, safe, and built to last.
