Before installation, let your Corkoleum rolls rest for about 72 hours in a dry, well-ventilated area — ideally where you’ll install them. Keep them upright in their original packaging.
You’ll need a few basic tools: a utility knife, measuring tape, ruler, roller, tray, and bucket. Or make it simple with our ready-to-use installation kit that includes everything for gluing, finishing, and sealing your cork flooring.
#1 Make sure the subfloor is clean, even, and free from dust or grease.
#2 Roll out the cork and let it sit flat for a few minutes. Inspect it under natural light for any visible imperfections.
#3 Apply adhesive evenly to the subfloor. Choose between Wakol D 3540 and Mapei Adesilex G19: Wakol works on porous and non-porous surfaces, while Adesilex G19 (a two-component polyurethane glue) is better for rubber or PVC bases. If overlapping, make the glued area about 2 inches narrower than the roll width for an invisible seam once trimmed.
#4 Clean up any residue once the flooring is down.
#5 Apply your topcoat after 24 hours — always follow your finish manufacturer’s instructions.
