How can a thin natural cork mat be used?
In the production process of advertising cabinets and cork boards, the 8mm cork sheet roll is glued with a soft primer, such as rigid cardboard, porous fibreboard or foam. The whole is framed in a lightweight and aluminum or sturdy wooden frame, which gives us classic large cork notice board. While producing the cork coasters, the cork is laminated with cardboard and then punched on knife cutters. Natural cork is used as a shoe lining by footwear manufacturers who appreciate its natural, ecological and nature friendly character. Cork soles provide comfort even during long periods of use as they are resilient and breathable.
Cork rolls 0.8mm are also used for the production of furniture fronts, decorative veneers, and ornamental lining. Due to the low thickness of the natural cork, its use is usually optimum in combination with other material of appropriate rigidity and strength and the cork mat 0.8mm shouldn’t be used as a cork underlayment under panels or a cork insulation roll.
What about thicker cork rolls?
Because the cork material performs primarily a decorative function, thicker cork tiles do not apply to these applications. The optically thinner cork product looks the same as the thicker one, and from an economic point of view, it is several times cheaper. Use our cork board roll with a thickness of 2 to 10mm where it is necessary to use a thicker cork. With the increase of the cork sheet roll thickness, its stiffness, bending and stretching strength are also increased.
