WHY SEAL A CORK FLOOR WITH PARQUET VARNISH?
A varnish helps your cork floor hold onto its good looks longer and delivers better protection against everyday use. It leaves a matte protective film that keeps cork in excellent shape for years.
WHAT FLOORS IS THE MATT VARNISH MADE FOR?
This varnish is designed for parquet made of cork and wood. It forms a tough, protective coating and is a great match for high-traffic rooms.
Note: Apply the varnish only to raw cork. If the surface was previously varnished, the new coat may not bond properly.
WHAT LOOK WILL I GET AFTER APPLYING MATT VARNISH TO NATURAL CORK?
You’ll get a matte sheen that lends the surface a subtle, elegant vibe.
IS THE APPLICATION DIFFICULT?
No, it’s straightforward. This is a single-component varnish, ready to use right out of the can. There’s no hardener or catalyst to add, unlike two-component systems. That simplifies the process and avoids mixing errors.
HOW SHOULD I PREP THE FLOOR BEFORE VARNISHING?
The surface must be even, smooth, and dry. For best results, the material’s moisture content should not exceed 12% — this is key to a long-lasting bond between varnish and substrate. Before coating, remove any old finishes and all traces of oil, grease, wax, silicone, dust, and other contaminants. The cleaner the base, the tougher and better-looking the final coat.
WHAT’S THE RIGHT WAY TO VARNISH A CORK FLOOR?
- Start by vigorously shaking the varnish to achieve a smooth, uniform consistency.
- If the floor was glued down, wait until the adhesive is completely dry before moving on.
- Apply three even coats with a roller. After the first coat, let it dry overnight — this allows moisture to evaporate and the cork to stabilize. Wait 4–6 hours between subsequent coats. Before the final layer, lightly sand the surface for a flawless finish.
Maintain the right conditions while you work: room temperature between +15°C and +25°C (59–77°F), air humidity 40%–75%, and material temperature between +18°C and +25°C (64–77°F). Make sure the space is well ventilated.
WHAT’S THE COVERAGE OF THIS PARQUET VARNISH FOR CORK FLOORS?
Average usage is 80 to 120 ml per 1 m² (≈10.76 sq ft). This refers to a single coat — with the recommended three coats, total product consumption increases accordingly.
DOES THE VARNISH NEED TO BE THINNED?
No, it’s ready to use as soon as you open the container and does not require thinning.
HOW AND WHERE SHOULD WS EASYFINISH BE STORED?
Store at room temperature or slightly cooler, but always above +5°C (41°F). Protect from freezing, as this is a water-based product. When stored correctly, the varnish remains stable for up to 12 months.
Want to shield your cork flooring but worried a varnish will make it look fake? You’re not wrong — an overly slick, “plastic” look can spoil the vibe. The smart move is a matte varnish that lets cork’s natural texture take center stage without changing its character. As a bonus, it stands up well to everyday wear and tear.

#1 CORK CARE DONE RIGHT
Cork is generally low-maintenance, but it still needs the right treatment. Your choice of varnish matters: not every formula plays nicely with cork’s structure. Some films are too rigid or don’t bond well, so the protective layer can’t do its job properly.
WS EasyFinish is a water-based varnish, which means no heavy solvent odor during application, quicker dry times, and a gentler touch on the cork surface.
#2 TOP-TIER QUALITY WITHOUT THE PRICE SHOCK
Even though WS EasyFinish is a single-component product and a breeze to use, the end result rivals many two-part systems. Once cured, the floor looks smooth and uniform.
That protective coat helps cork hold its refined appearance longer. The matte sheen underscores the material’s natural character, while minor scuffs and grime are less noticeable. It’s premium performance — at a sensible price.
#3 CLEANING, SIMPLIFIED
A well-sealed cork floor makes everyday life easier. The varnish builds a barrier that blocks dirt and streamlines routine upkeep.
The payoff? Less elbow grease. A quick pass with a mop is all it takes — no harsh chemicals, no marathon scrubbing sessions. You save time and your floor keeps looking great, even with frequent traffic.
