Tired of stepping onto synthetic turf that feels like hot pavement? Rubber infill often traps heat, creating an uncomfortable experience. Cork granules offer a cooler surface—up to 30% less heat on those blazing summer days. With microplastics under fire in the U.S. and abroad, cork is the smart, sustainable, and safer way forward.

Have questions? Let us break it down.

WHY CHOOSE CORK GRANULES FOR YOUR TURF?

Cork delivers a softer, safer, and more enjoyable turf surface. It keeps your artificial grass anchored, shields it from the elements, and reduces the chances of slips and falls. It's especially useful for high-traffic areas, whether it’s sports fields or backyard play zones.

IS CORK INFILL SUITABLE FOR ALL TYPES OF SYNTHETIC GRASS?

Yes, absolutely – whether you’ve got a patio, rooftop lawn, residential landscaping, or a soccer field, cork adapts beautifully and enhances turf performance.

CAN CORK HELP LOWER THE HEAT ON MY TURF?

Yes it can – cork doesn’t trap heat like rubber. Thanks to its low thermal conductivity, it stays cooler longer, making it ideal for sunny climates.

HOW MUCH INFILL DO I NEED TO COVER MY SPACE?

One kilogram of cork covers about 21.5 square feet (roughly 2 m²). For example, if you’ve got 215 sq ft, you’ll want 10 kg of cork granules. Easy math, quick planning.

WHAT PACKAGE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

Cork granules come in handy sizes: 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, and 20 kg. Need more? Bulk options include half pallets (180 kg), full pallets (360 kg), and even larger loads (720 kg / 1080 kg) for commercial needs.

HOW SHOULD I INSTALL CORK INFILL?

  • First, lay a thin, even layer of sand (2–5 mm) across your turf area. This provides stability and helps cork settle properly.
  • Spread the cork evenly across the turf. Avoid dumping too much at once; use a rake to distribute smoothly.
  • If you see areas that are uneven, adjust by redistributing and leveling the surface.

HOW SHOULD I STORE EXTRA CORK?

Store your cork in a cool, dry environment, away from sun exposure. Use sealed bags or containers to keep it clean and dry until your next use.

CAN I MIX CORK INFILL WITH OTHER FILL MATERIALS?

It’s not recommended. Cork performs best on its own. Mixing it with other infills could compromise its natural advantages and consistency.

IS CORK A FIRE HAZARD?

No – cork is slower to ignite than many synthetic materials. Plus, it doesn’t release harmful fumes when exposed to flame, making it a safer choice all around.

HOW OFTEN DOES CORK INFILL NEED TO BE REPLACED?

Cork is long-lasting. A quick check-up and occasional top-off is usually all that’s needed. Full replacement? Not for another 5–10 years in most cases.

IS YOUR CORK INFILL CERTIFIED SAFE?

Yes, our cork granules are officially certified by Poland’s National Institute of Public Health (PZH). They’re skin-friendly and allergen-free. We’re proud to offer the only PZH-certified cork infill in the U.S. market.

IS NATURAL CORK LEGAL AND COMPLIANT IN THE U.S.?

Absolutely – cork is 100% natural and microplastic-free. It complies with all current U.S. and international guidelines for turf infill materials.

WILL CORK INFILL SHIFT AROUND DURING USE?

Not if applied properly. A level sand base and well-spread cork ensures stability. Cork naturally grips turf fibers, staying put even under active use.

Incorporating cork granules into your turf system is a smart and practical way to upgrade your field — making play safer, more enjoyable, and easier on the body. This natural infill cushions impact, helps reduce slips, and stays cooler underfoot than rubber alternatives. Best of all — it’s 100% natural and eco-friendly.

Black text WHY is it worth it?» with cork on the right on a white background.

#1 STAYS PUT, RESISTS SHIFTING

Cork infill used in artificial turf systems typically ranges in density from 180–200 kg/m³, making it highly resistant to displacement from wind or movement. It fits snugly between turf fibers, keeping the surface smooth and reliably in place.

Thanks to its fine particle size (1–2 mm), cork spreads evenly and settles seamlessly within the synthetic grass — no clumping, no uneven spots.

#2 ENHANCED SAFETY AND PLAYER COMFORT

Cork provides a soft, stable playing surface that’s gentle enough for kids and resilient enough for adults. Its shock-absorbing properties reduce the severity of falls and minimize the risk of injury. Better traction also helps prevent accidental slips.

With U.S. and global environmental regulations increasingly moving away from synthetic fillers, cork emerges as the ideal replacement. It’s fully compliant, renewable, and aligns with green building standards and sustainable field practices.

#3 CORK VS. RUBBER: A CLEAR DIFFERENCE

While rubber infill has long been a go-to, it brings notable downsides. It gets excessively hot in direct sunlight, posing a burn hazard. It can emit strong odors and leach undesirable chemicals. And while it offers some impact absorption, rubber stiffens in cold weather — increasing the chance of injury.

Cork, on the other hand, is a safer, more sustainable solution. It stays cool, even under high heat conditions, delivering a much more comfortable user experience. Fully biodegradable and naturally sourced, cork helps lower carbon emissions and supports greener field development.

#4 SMARTER CHOICE: COOLER, QUIETER, CLEANER

Cork adds visual appeal to synthetic turf, offering a more soil-like, organic appearance. It preserves the turf’s structural integrity and helps maintain a consistent, natural-looking surface over time.

It also helps regulate field temperature — cutting surface heat by as much as 30%, which can make a real difference during summer play. On top of that, cork’s sound-absorbing qualities reduce noise during games — a welcome benefit for facilities in residential or urban environments.
