(excl. VAT)Does your wall look perfectly fine, yet still feel like it’s missing something? Another coat of paint or a new roll of wallpaper might be the obvious choice, but conventional finishes don’t always give a space the character it deserves. Burel Ocean's Deep Cork Wall Panels offer a more distinctive approach by pairing natural cork with authentic Portuguese burel in rich shades of blue and turquoise. The combination creates an upscale wall finish that adds texture, depth, and personality to your interior. Better yet, both materials have strong ties to Portuguese heritage, bringing traditional craftsmanship into a fresh, contemporary design.

Distinctive Contemporary Design
The Burel collection brings together two materials deeply rooted in Portuguese tradition: natural cork and burel.
Cork has been closely associated with Portugal for generations, but its uses now extend far beyond wine stoppers and bulletin boards. This versatile natural material can be found in decorative wall coverings, flooring, furniture, and a wide range of everyday products. Burel is an authentic Portuguese textile made from 100% sheep’s wool, with origins in the mountainous Serra da Estrela region.
Combining these two natural materials creates a distinctive contrast, pairing the recognizable texture of cork with the completely different feel and appearance of woolen burel.
Ocean's Deep starts with a warm, natural cork background accented by irregular pieces of burel in blue and turquoise tones. Instead of following a repeating or symmetrical pattern, the burel elements appear freely scattered across the surface.
This design works especially well if you want the authentic character of cork to remain visible while adding more visual variety to the wall. Ocean's Deep introduces colorful accents without hiding the natural appearance that makes cork so distinctive.
Each panel features a three-layer construction:
For exact panel dimensions and thicknesses, refer to the product specifications provided below.
These panels are installed with adhesive. For this particular design, we especially recommend Wakol D-3540. Typical adhesive coverage is approximately 150–250 g/m², making it straightforward to estimate the amount needed based on your wall area. A 0.8 kg package covers approximately 4 m² on average, or about 22 panels. The larger 2.5 kg package provides average coverage of approximately 12.5 m², equivalent to roughly 68 panels.

Proper wall preparation is essential before the panels are installed. Make sure the surface is clean, dry, level, and free of dust, grease, and other contaminants. Any residue left on the wall may interfere with the adhesive bond.
If the surface is uneven, level it before installation. Highly absorbent substrates, including concrete, may also benefit from a primer. Priming helps prevent the wall from absorbing the adhesive too quickly.
The cork should also be allowed to acclimate before installation, ideally for 72 hours. Because cork is a natural material, it responds to changes in room temperature and humidity. Giving the panels enough time to adjust to their new environment helps reduce the likelihood of dimensional changes after installation.
No. This model is manufactured without beveled edges.
The material you choose can significantly influence how a room looks and feels. Plastic is synthetic, while ceramic surfaces generally feel cooler and harder. Cork offers a very different experience: it is a natural material with a pleasantly warm feel and an inviting appearance.
That difference can be particularly appealing in bedrooms, living rooms, and home offices where a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere is preferred over a colder look. Cork adds natural texture to the wall, while the Burel collection introduces additional color and visual detail.
It is important to separate everyday comfort from dedicated thermal insulation. Decorative cork can make a wall feel more pleasant and warmer to the touch, while its natural appearance can also give the entire room a visually warmer and more comfortable character.
However, Burel panels are designed primarily as a decorative wall covering. If thermal insulation is the main goal of your project, ThermoKork Panels or Expanded Cork would be more appropriate options.
In short, decorative cork is a practical choice when you want to finish a wall and at the same time enhance everyday comfort. If insulation performance itself is your top priority, choose a product specifically engineered for that purpose.
The seams between individual panels may remain slightly visible after installation. This is normal for a natural material like cork, which responds to the temperature and humidity conditions in its surroundings. Proper acclimation before installation can help minimize later dimensional changes and make the seams less noticeable. Even with correct preparation, however, subtle panel joints can still be visible and should be considered a natural characteristic of cork.
Looking for an alternative to plastic finishes and cold, rigid surfaces in your home? Plenty of wall coverings look impressive online, yet once installed, they can feel surprisingly artificial. Ocean's Deep Cork Wall Panels take a different approach – bringing natural texture, visual warmth, and a more welcoming feel to your space.

Pairing natural cork with colored wool gives these panels a look you rarely see in conventional wall treatments. Subtle variations, an irregular surface, and fine details create a finish that feels visually warm and full of character rather than flat or uniform.
There is also a story behind this distinctive pairing. Both cork and burel have deep roots in Portugal and reflect the country’s long tradition of craftsmanship and manufacturing. Ocean's Deep brings these two materials together in a contemporary wall design that gives traditional materials a fresh expression.
If another perfectly smooth wall simply does not excite you, this decor offers something more distinctive. It maintains a natural, understated appearance while the colored wool introduces an eye-catching accent. The result stands apart from standard wall panels without making the room feel overly decorated.
Because cork is a natural material, it is a smart option for interiors where you want to cut back on synthetic finishes. It also offers a practical everyday benefit: cork does not attract dust as readily as many other surfaces. That can make a real difference when you want a decorative feature wall without adding constant dusting and upkeep to your routine.
Keeping the surface looking good is straightforward as well. Cork does not call for complicated maintenance or time-consuming care. Simple cleaning is generally all it takes to keep the panels in good condition, making them an easy addition to everyday living spaces.
Paint and wallpaper are familiar choices, but they are not the only ways to give a room personality. Cork transforms a wall in a completely different way. Instead of simply introducing another color, it adds natural texture and depth, giving the surface a stronger visual presence within the room.
That added dimension can make the entire interior feel more intentional and complete without relying on extra decorative accessories. Rather than fading into the background, the wall becomes an active part of the room’s character. For anyone ready to move beyond another smooth, conventional finish, cork offers a distinctive alternative with a refined, premium look.
