WHAT FLOORING TYPES CAN I USE A RUBBER CORK UNDERLAYMENT WITH?

This underlayment is a versatile pick for nearly all floor types — it works beautifully under laminate, hardwood, parquet, carpet, vinyl, linoleum, natural stone, and even ceramic tile. It’s particularly ideal for glued flooring, offering solid soundproofing and temperature control.

Plus, it’s compatible with water-based radiant heating systems, spreading warmth evenly throughout the space. Just note: it’s not suitable for electric underfloor heating — cork doesn’t respond well to that kind of heat.

HOW IS RUBBER CORK DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR CORK UNDERLAYMENT?

Rubber cork is basically cork 2.0. It’s a reinforced blend of cork and rubber granules, bonded with polyurethane adhesive. This combo adds toughness, flexibility, and even better insulation — making it perfect for tougher subfloors that need more density and performance.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO PREP THE SUBFLOOR?

Make sure your subfloor is clean, even, and secure. For best results, keep moisture below 2.5%, room temperature above 50°F, and humidity under 75% before installation.

HOW DO I INSTALL THE UNDERLAYMENT?

 
  1. Acclimate: Take the underlayment out of its packaging a day in advance so it adjusts to room conditions.
  2. Cut: Use a sharp utility knife to trim the sheets, leaving a ¾" gap from the wall. Pre-cut them to room length and roll them back up.
  3. Glue: Use a dedicated cork adhesive like Wakol D3540. Spread it with a notched trowel (B1/B2), wait for it to go clear — then it’s ready.
  4. Lay: Roll out the sheet over the glue, press it down, and roll out air bubbles. Line up the edges so there are no gaps.
  5. Finish: Wait 24–48 hours before laying your flooring, following the adhesive brand’s instructions.
 

Important: Don’t nail or screw down the underlayment — it compromises insulation. Always stick to the glue manufacturer’s instructions.
